The Widow and The Oil

Hi. Good morning. Happy Sabbath, Downey Church family. So this week, Zeke and I will be doing the kids' story, and Zeke wants to talk about... The jars of oil. Perfect. Let's go ahead and get started.

Okay, so Elisha met this woman, and the woman said, Elisha, can you help me? I owe a lot of money to a man and he said if I can’t pay him back he'll take my sons as his slaves.

And obviously the mom did not want to lose her kids so that they could become slaves to pay off the debt that her husband owed and that her husband and her husband had already passed away so he didn't have a way of giving her that money back.

So Elijah asked her "And what do you have?" And she answered, "I only have a couple, I only have one jar, one little jar of oil."

Yeah. So Elijah told her, I want you and your kids to go to your neighbors, everyone around you and go grab as many bottles as you can borrow. And so then you need to go into your room and in secret, close all your doors. And in secret, I want you to pour from your little jar of olive oil and fill up all the other jars. And so what happened while the mom was pouring?

God did a miracle and He made the cup of oil to be exactly how much they needed to fill up all of them. Yep. Every single vessel that she borrowed, she was able to completely fill.

And then Elijah said, "Go ahead, you can take that oil now and you can do well with it." He can sell it for money. And you'll have extra money. And what could she do with the extra money?

She could like to buy food and live. And with her other money, she can pay a debt. Pay off the debt. Yeah.

So God always provides for us, boys and girls. Sometimes we feel like I don't have enough or I don't know that I'm smart enough to take this class or I don't know that I can do well in this test. And God will always provide for you. You just have to ask.

Pray and ask with gratitude and say, thank you, Lord, that I know you will provide because you've made promises that you will always provide for us, your children.

So bow your heads for prayers. Dear God, thank you for this day. Thank you for letting us know that you will always multiply us. You will always multiply ourself. Make sure we have enough. Make sure that we all have a good day today. In Jesus' name, amen. Amen.
