Tiny Little Thieves
by Pastor Chris
Hi boys and girls. Have you ever been bit by a mosquito? It can be kind of uncomfortable, maybe a little painful, but more than anything it's really annoying. And in our backyard we have tried to find where the mosquitoes are. Sometimes they'll just come in force and a couple of them will try to bite me and try to take my blood.
Now the other night the door was left open a little bit longer than it should have been and a couple of mosquitoes got in. And last night on this very couch I was reading, minding my own business, and I got bit by a mosquito and tried to take my blood and I thought how dare this mosquito and then maybe another 10-15 minutes later they tried to get me again and then this morning I was lying down on the ground here in my living room I saw a mosquito land literally right here on my arm almost got me but I tried to get it tried to swat it would not go away and then maybe another five minutes later I felt this pain near my foot, around my ankle. And guess what? It got me.
Sometimes these moments, mosquitoes, they can be very, very, very frustrating. You know, though, life sometimes, just like mosquitoes, it can be frustrating, can be annoying. It can be difficult. Sometimes people may say mean things. Maybe something doesn't go the way that you want it to. And these things will pile up like a like a pile of leaves until all of a sudden, enough is enough, and you get mad. Or you get tired because you just feel drained. Generally, mosquitoes, they're mostly annoying, but if we're not careful, we could get really, really sick. And so we have to take care of ourselves. We have to be mindful.
Now, I love what Paul writes in that sometimes, you know, when we're hurt, we're sick, we can always call unto the Lord because Paul was told by God, my grace is sufficient for you. My power is greater than your weakness, essentially. So maybe when you're feeling sad, when you're feeling tired, when you're feeling frustrated, or maybe when you're mad at somebody, I want to remind you, take a moment, call to God, pray and just say, Lord, help me in this situation. And share what's on your heart. If you're feeling great, give God praise. If you're feeling sad or upset, let God know. Because God is bigger than anything that we can imagine. In God's strength, we can handle anything, even little minor annoyances like a mosquito.
Have a great week and let's pray. Dear Jesus, be with all of our children. Lord, sometimes our world can be frustrating and maybe make us mad sometimes. And sometimes we feel like we're powerless. But help us to remember that we can always call on you and to pray to you to help us to deal with challenging situations. Be with our parents as well who are caring for our kids, our family members and loved ones. Help them all to do well. Help our kids to do well in school. And be with our parents as they raise their kids. In Jesus' name, everybody said, Amen. Thank you..
